Gallodactylidae was named by Fabre (1974). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Lü et al. (2012).
It was assigned to Pterodactyloidea by Wang and Zhou (2006); to Ctenochasmatoidea by Lü et al. (2012); and to Euctenochasmatia by Hone et al. (2023).
