Caseasauria

Taxonomy
Caseasauria was named by Williston (1912). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Maddin et al. (2008).

It was replaced with Caseiformes by Hay (1930); it was synonymized subjectively with Edaphosauria by Kuhn (1966); it was misspelled as Caseosauria by Olson (1966), Haubold (1971), Reisz (1986), Martens et al. (2005) and Ivakhnenko (2008); it was reranked as the unranked clade Caseasauria by Roxo (1937), Reisz (2005), Maddin et al. (2008) and Spindler et al. (2016).

It was assigned to Theromorpha by Roxo (1937); to Pelycosauria by Haubold (1971); to Pelycosauria by Olson (1966) and Reisz (1986); to Ophiacomorpha by Ivakhnenko (2008); and to Synapsida by Reisz (2005), Martens et al. (2005), Maddin et al. (2008) and Spindler et al. (2016).
