Taxonomy
Sapenion was named by Hou et al. (1991) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Saperion glumaceum.

It was corrected as Saperion by Bambach et al. (2007), Paterson et al. (2012) and Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017).

It was assigned to Naraoiida by Sepkoski (2002); to Arthropoda by Bambach et al. (2007); and to Conciliterga by Paterson et al. (2012) and Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017).
