Platygonus compressus

Taxonomy
Platygonus compressus was named by Leconte (1848) [originally spelled Platigonus compressus]. Its type specimen is ANSP 11512, 11515, 11522, 11524, 11533, 11534, 11539, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Galena (Snyder Collection), which is in a Pleistocene karst sandstone in Illinois.

It was recombined as Dicotyles compressus by Leidy (1860).
