Pseudoloris reguanti was named by Crusafont Pairo (1967) [holotype is lost and was never figured. Neotype (NMB Css. 1) erected by Minwer-Barakat et al. 2013]. Its type specimen is NMB Css.1, a tooth (Right M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sant Cugat de Gavadons, which is in a MP 19 terrestrial horizon in Spain.
It was considered a nomen nudum by Köhler and Moyá-Solá (1999).
