Chetaites was named by Shul'gina (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: K Berr-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Chetaites chatae.

It was assigned to Dorsoplanitinae by Shul'gina (1962); and to Ammonitida by Sepkoski (2002).
