Taxonomy
Anchiornis huxleyi was named by Xu et al. (2009). Its type specimen is IVPP V14378, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Daxishan, Linglongta, which is in a Bathonian/Kimmeridgian lacustrine sandstone/mudstone in the Tiaojishan Formation of China.
