Yokoyamaoceras was named by Wright and Matsumoto (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo , K Coni]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Puzosiinae by Kennedy (1986); to Kossmaticeratinae by Wright (1996) and Kennedy and Summesberger (1999); to Kossmaticeratidae by Wright and Matsumoto (1954) and Toshimitsu and Hirano (2000); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
