Ligabueichnium was named by Leonardi (1984). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Ligabueichnium bolivianum.

It was assigned to Ornithischia by Leonardi (1984) and Leonardi (1989); and to Ceratopsia by Lockley (1992) and Jaillard et al. (1993).

G. Leonardi 1984Pista massiccia, quadrupede con sovrapposizione totale, di aspetto apparentemente bipede. Orme anteriori probabilmente più piccole delle posteriori. Basso angolo del passo (~44°-95°; M 66°); basso indice passo doppio/lunghezza dell'orma (~2); larghezza della pista relativamente ampia (120-170 cm); larghezza interna con valori sempre positivi (25-55 cm); orme posteriori leggermente più larghe che lunghe *indice lunghezza/larghezza = M ~0.99), a contorno generale subrotondo, con il margine anteriore un po' concavo e il posteriore provvisto di un "tallone"; prevvalenza funzionale nella porzione posteriore del piede. Orma probabilmente pentadattila oppure tetradattila, con dita fornite di unghie piatte, arrotondate davanti e taglienti sui margini. Pianta molto ridotta.
