Hypselospinus was named by Norman (2010). Its type is Iguanodon fittoni.

It was assigned to Neoiguanodontia by Norman (2014); to Styracosterna by Norman (2010) and Norman (2014); and to Hadrosauriformes by Verdú et al. (2021).

Synonyms

Wadhurstia was named by Carpenter and Ishida (2010).

It was synonymized objectively with Hypselospinus by Norman (2013), Pereda Suberbiola and Ruiz-Omeñaca (2013) and Llandres Serrano et al. (2013).

It was assigned to Iguanodontia by Carpenter and Ishida (2010).
Darwinsaurus was named by Paul (2012).

It was synonymized subjectively with Hypselospinus by Norman (2013).
