Taxonomy
Peytoia was named by Walcott (1911). It is not extant. Its type is Peytoia nathorsti. It is the type genus of Peytoiidae.
It was assigned to Coelenterata by Conway Morris (1978); to Peytoiidae by Conway Morris and Robison (1982); to Anomalocarididae by Daley and Bergstrom (2012); and to Hurdiidae by Lerosey-Aubril and Pates (2018) and Pates et al. (2021).
