Ingenierichnus was named by Casamiquela (1964). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Ingenierichnus sierrai.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Melchor and de Valais (2006).

It was assigned to Vertebrata by Casamiquela (1964); to Pseudosuchia by Casamiquela (1975); to Therapsida by Leonardi (1981); and to Reptilia by Calvo (2007).
