Myacites elongatus was named by Schlotheim (1822). It is not extant.
It was recombined as Anodontophora (Myacites) elongata by Ogilvie Gordon (1927); it was recombined as Pleuromya elongata by Bender (1921), Gall (1971) and Neri and Posenato (1985).
