Taxonomy
Miocyon vallisrubrae was named by Friscia and Rasmussen (2010). Its type specimen is CM 71190, a mandible (fragmentary right dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gnat-Out-Of-Hell, which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.
