Taxonomy
Malea beui was named by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010). Its type specimen is NHMW 2010/0038/0017, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PPP# 219 - Sabanita [lower Gatun Fm], which is in a Tortonian coastal siltstone/sandstone in the Gatun Formation of Panama.
