Taxonomy
Cardium australe was named by Sowerby (1834). It is extant. Its type locality is Glendon Homestead, Hunter River (USNM coll), which is in a Wordian coastal siltstone in the Muree Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Fulvia australis by Hendy (2007).
