Poletaevella was named by Dalmatov and Repina (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto]. It is not extant. Its type is Poletaevella baljutica.
It was assigned to Redlichiida by Whittington et al. (1997); to Olenellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Olenellina by Palmer and Repina (1993) and Jell and Adrain (2002).
