Taxonomy
Palaeopsychops maculatus was named by Andersen (2001). Its type specimen is GMUC 298, a hindwing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ejerslev Molergrav, Mors, between layers +25 and +30 , which is in a Ypresian offshore ramp diatomite/volcaniclastic in the Fur Formation of Denmark.
