Taxonomy
Despujolsia was named by Neltner and Poctey (1949) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-l Sepkoski's reference number: 473]. It is not extant. Its type is Despujolsia rochi. It is the type genus of Despujolsiidae.

It was assigned to Redlichiida by Sepkoski (2002); to Saukiandidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Despujolsiidae by Geyer (2020).

Geyer 2020Cranidium relatively narrow; glabella constricted at level of L2, with three pairs of short lateral glabellar furrows separated from axial furrow; occipital ring wide (sag.); preglabellar field as long (sag.) as anterior border; palpebro-ocular ridge arcuate, slightly expanded in front; anterior sections of facial suture moderately divergent; preglabellar field (sag. and exsag.) absent. Thorax narrow, composed of 14 segments; pleurae narrower (tr.) than axis, spinose; first six thoracic pleurae ending in short, subequal spines; spines increasing rapidly in size between 7th and 11th pleurae with segment 11 macrospinose and fulcrum distal; pleurae of posterior segments (= opisthothorax) with short spines. Pygidium small, with ca. four pairs of tiny marginal spines; axis narrow, moderately well segmented; pleural regions with indistinct furrows only.
