Taxonomy
Chirotherium storetonense was named by Morton (1863). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is south quarry, Storeton, which is in a Triassic terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized subjectively with Chirotherium barthii by Haubold (1969), Haubold (1971), Haubold (1974), Avanzini (2000) and Klein and Lucas (2021).
