Taxonomy
Dromiciops was named by Thomas (1894). It is extant. Its type is Dromiciops gliroides.

It was assigned to Microbiotheriidae by Marshall (1982), Springer et al. (1994) and Goin et al. (2006); and to Microbiotheria by Ladaveze and Muizon (2010).
