Taxonomy
Pecten ptychotis was named by M'Coy (1847). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dunvegan (W.B. Clarke coll), which is in an Asbian marine siliciclastic in the Flagstaff Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Aviculopecten ptychotis by Etheridge and Dun (1906); it was recombined as Streblochondria ptychotis by Newell (1938).
