Taxonomy
Diplodonta insula was named by Olsson (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Water Cay [Cayo Agua Fm], which is in a Piacenzian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Cayo Agua Formation of Panama.
It was recombined as Diplodonta (Diplodonta) insula by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Felaniella insula by Hendy et al. (2008).
