Taxonomy
Monoplex panamensis was named by Beu (2010). Its type specimen is NMB H 17944, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NMB 18503 - Rio Chico [Tuira Fm], which is in a Tortonian coastal horizon in the Tuira Formation of Panama.
