Bryanka venustula was named by Kovalev (1990). Its type specimen is PIN 3063/870, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daya locality (PIN collection 3063), which is in a Tithonian terrestrial horizon in the Glushkovo Formation of the Russian Federation.
