Yueosaurus was named by Zheng et al. (2012) [The generic name derives from “Yue”, an ancient name for Zhejiang]. It was considered unknown by Zheng et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Ornithopoda by Zheng et al. (2012); to Jeholosauridae by Madzia et al. (2018); to Thescelosauridae by Herne et al. (2019); and to Iguanodontia by Dieudonné et al. (2020).
