Taxonomy
Crocodylus gaudense was named by Hulke (1871). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gozo, Aquitanian, which is in an Aquitanian marine limestone in Malta.

It was recombined as Tomistoma gaudense by Lydekker (1886).
