Taxonomy
Redfieldius was named by Hay (1899). Its type is Catopterus gracilis. It is the type genus of Redfieldiidae.
It was assigned to Dictyopygidae by Hay (1902) and Rapp (1946); to Catopteridae by Bock (1959); and to Redfieldiidae by Schaeffer and McDonald (1978), Heckert (2004) and Nelson (2006).
