Taxonomy
Rana temporaria was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Rana.

Synonyms
  • Rana mehelyi was named by Bolkay (1911). Its type specimen is MNH (No catalouge number), a set of postcrania (Fragmentary right ilium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Rana temporaria by Sanchiz (1998).
