Taxonomy
Pachycynodon delicatus was named by Loomis (1932). Its type locality is ACM Rosebud 3, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in South Dakota.
It was recombined as Neocynodesmus delicatus by Macdonald (1963) and Macdonald (1970); it was recombined as Leptocyon delicatus by Wang et al. (2008) and Tedford et al. (2009).
