Platystrophia profundosulcata hopensis was named by Foerste (1910) [No actual description: just a figure caption!].

It was recombined as Vinlandostrophia hopensis by Zuykov and Harper (2007); it was recombined as Platystrophia hopensis by Alberstadt (1979) and Holland and Patzkowsky (2007).
