P. M. Wells and R. S. Hill 1989Foliage uniform, spirally arranged; leaves bifacial, imbricate, elongated, rhomboidal scales. Apex acute, slightly inwardly curved. Margin entire. Cuticle very unequally amphistomatic, stomata arranged in two crowded zones from near base almost to apex either side of stomata-free midregion on adaxial surface. Abaxial stomata in small crowded basal zones either side of midregion. Stomata amphicyclic, randomly oriented, not in rows. Epidermal cells other than subsidiary cells rare in stomatal zones; epidermal cells between zones rectangular, in files parallel to long axis of leaf.
