Empedocles alatus

Taxonomy
Empedocles alatus was named by Cope (1878). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Barry, 12 (Admiral Formation), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Empedias.

It was recombined as Empedias alatus by Hay (1902) and Hay (1930); it was recombined as Diadectes alatus by Carroll et al. (1972); it was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
