Taxonomy
Aelurognathus sollasi was named by Broili and Schröder (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kuilspoort, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.

It was recombined as Lycaenops sollasi by Gebauer (2007).
