Amphirhagatherium edwardsi was named by Hooker and Thomas (2001). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Headon Hill, Upper Headon Beds (Microchoerus Bed), Isle of Wight, which is in the Eocene of claystone/sandstone the Upper Headon Beds Formation the United Kingdom.
