Evenkia was named by Berg (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Evenkia eunotoptera. It is the type genus of Evenkiidae, Evenkiidae.

It was assigned to Evenkiidae by Sytchevskaya (1999); and to Palaeonisciformes by Sepkoski (2002).
