Taxonomy
Neostrachanognathus was named by Koike (1998) ["Neostrachanognathus is characterized by a quadrimembrate apparatus composed of an adenticulated and three denticulated nongeniculate coniform elements."]. Its type is Neostrachanognathus tahoensis.

It was assigned to Conodonta by Koike (1998); and to Cornudininae by Orchard (2007).
