Taxonomy
Youngina was named by Broom (1914). It is not extant. Its type is Youngina capensis. It is the type genus of Younginoidea.
It was assigned to Neodiapsida by Senter (2004) and Bickelmann et al. (2009); and to Younginidae by Broom (1914), Currie (1982), Benton (1985), Carroll (1988) and Reisz et al. (2011).
