Taxonomy
Pecten (Chlamys) wattsi was named by Arnold (1906) [Pecten wattis first appears in this reference (Anderson 1905), but attribute to Arnold. Arnold's description appears in Arnold 1906.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pescadero Creek Ridge, which is in an Eocene marine horizon in California.

It was recombined as Pecten wattsi by Nomland (1916); it was recombined as Pecten etchegoini wattsi by Nomland (1917); it was recombined as Pecten (Swiftopecten) etchegoini wattsi by Faustman (1964).
