It was assigned to Eucynodontia by Kemp (1982); to Chiniquodontoidea by Carroll (1988); to Probainognathia by Martinez et al. (1996); to Ictidosauria by Martinelli and Rougier (2007); to Brasilodontia by Bonaparte (2012); and to Mammaliamorpha by Huttenlocker et al. (2018).

Diagnosis—Derived ictidosaurs with a dominant central bulbous main cusp on upper postcanines, with cusps B and C buccally displaced; lower middle and posterior postcanines with four aligned cusps that decrease in size posteriorly; the posterior portion of secondary palate almost at the level of the tip of the postcanines, forming a deep groove between the hard palate and the tooth row. |
