Taxonomy

Deltatherium was named by Cope (1881). Its type is Deltatherium fundaminis.

It was assigned to Leptictidae by Cope (1881) and Cope (1881); to Proviverridae by Scott (1892) and Hay (1902); to Oxyclaenidae by Hay (1930); and to Eutheria by Lucas (1998).

Synonyms

Lipodectes was named by Cope (1881).

It was synonymized subjectively with Deltatherium by Cope (1883), Hay (1902), Matthew (1937), Van Valen (1966) and Lucas (1998).
