Berruvius was named by Russell (1964). It is not extant. Its type is Sarnacius gingerichi.
It was assigned to Uintasoricinae by Russell (1981); to Navajoviinae by Gunnell (1989); to Microsyopidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Toliapinidae by Hooker et al. (1999); and to Primates by Bloch et al. (2007).
