Taxonomy

Paramys was named by Leidy (1871) [also said to be 1851]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Sciuridae by Leidy (1873); to Ischyromyidae by Leidy (1871), Hay (1902), Peterson (1919) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Paramyidae by Rose et al. (2012).
