Saykanomys was named by Shevyreva (1972). It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Advenimus by Dashzeveg (1990).
It was assigned to Chapattimyinae by Averianov (1996); to Ctenodactylidae by Hartenberger (1982) and McKenna and Bell (1997); to Stelmomyinae by Tong (1997); to Chapattimyidae by Thewissen et al. (2001); and to Ctenodactyloidea by Li and Meng (2015).
