It was assigned to Ailurinae by Van Valen (1986) and Baskin (1998); to Procyonidae by Hollister (2000); to Ailuridae by Wallace and Wang (2004) and Wang et al. (2005); to Ailurini by Wallace and Lyon (2022); and to Ailurinae by Salesa et al. (2006) and Salesa et al. (2022).
