Taxonomy
Spirillicyathus was named by Bedford and Bedford (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm(Boto-l) Misspelled as Spirillicyathella. Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-l Cm Boto-u].

It was assigned to Archaeocyathida by Zhuravlev and Gravestock (1994) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Copleicyathidae by Kerner et al. (2011) and Debrenne et al. (2015).
