Taxonomy
Paciculus mcgregori was named by Macdonald (1970). Its type locality is Sharps (SDSM V-544), which is in a Geringian terrestrial horizon in the Sharps Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Geringia mcgregori by Martin (1980) and Williams and Storer (1998).
