Taxonomy
Gobiconodon ostromi was named by Jenkins and Schaff (1988). Its type specimen is MCZ 19965, a partial skeleton (partial skeleton including both mandibles and partial or complete postcranial bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Harvard MCZ 19965 Site, Edwards Ranch, which is in an Albian/Cenomanian terrestrial horizon in the Cloverly Formation of Montana.
