Taxonomy
Cotimus alicae was named by Black (1961) [genotype]. It is the type species of Cotimus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Paciculus montanus by Clark et al. (1964); it was recombined as Leidymys alicae by Engesser (1979) and Martin (1980).
