Taxonomy
Montanalestes keebleri was named by Cifelli (1999) [genotype]. Its type locality is OMNH V1156, which is in an Albian/Cenomanian terrestrial horizon in the Cloverly Formation of Montana. It is the type species of Montanalestes.
It was corrected as Montanalestes keeblerorum by Cifelli (2000) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
